The report offers a moment-in-time snapshot of how Alberta-based Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities companies are approaching the energy transition. Grounded in research and analysis of corporate disclosures, climate commitments, and company strategies, it explores how firms are measuring up to their pledges, and what’s enabling or impeding that progress.

The concept of “Companies-in-Transition” (CiT) is introduced in the report to assess where tangible action is emerging, along with three corporate archetypes to illustrate that transition action happens along a spectrum of activity.

In addition, the report profiles ‘outlier’ companies that are starting to walk the talk – from exploring Scope 3 emissions to leveraging strategic partnerships to business model innovations.

Beyond this snapshot, it identifies key policy areas needed to support corporate transition planning, disclosure, and progress and offers a window into what’s working and what’s needed to turn ambition into action.

This reminds all of us to walk in a good way and remember our commitments to Indigenous Peoples.
