How can Alberta build an electricity system that supports a prosperous economy, meets the needs of a changing society, reduces emissions and protects the province's long-term interests? That is the ambition behind Alberta’s Electricity Future (AEF): to bring together people and businesses from across the energy system to find common ground, challenge conventional thinking and advance practical solutions to the complex challenges shaping Alberta’s electricity future.
This report captures the initiative’s first three years—from building a shared vision and influencing policy and regulatory discussions to advancing energy affordability and grid modernization. It explores what becomes possible when industry, utilities, regulators, policymakers, Indigenous and community representatives, customers and innovators work across traditional divides to better align electricity system development, economic interests and sustainability priorities. And it looks ahead to how the collaborative muscle built and pilot designs can translate shared ambition into lasting, scalable change.
