Designing A Marketplace Framework For Future-Fit Hydrocarbons

Author

Una Jefferson

This policy brief makes the case that federal and provincial governments need to act to encourage investment in future-fit hydrocarbon industries and presents a framework for how they might do so. The framework is based on a rigorous, peer-reviewed Clean Innovation Framework developed by the Smart Prosperity Institute, which identifies how public policies can support the growth and adoption of clean technologies, processes and business models at various stages of the innovation cycle.

We gratefully acknowledge the original territories of the Siksikáwa, Îyârhe Nakodabi, and Tsuut’ina Dene, of Mohkínstsisakápiyoyis, Wincheesh-pah, Kootsisáw, or the colonized lands which many now refer to as Calgary, where the Energy Futures Lab is headquartered. These Lands are also home to members of the Métis Nation of Alberta under the Otipemisiwak Métis Government — District 4 & 5, whose peoples have deep relationships with the land. This reminds all of us to walk in a good way and remember our commitments to Indigenous Peoples.
